All the lights were flashing with high intensity beams at my car, and it seemed the driver in the other car was ready to throw me off the road if I stayed in his way. I immediately went from the fast lane to the slow lane. That driver passed me by at a very high speed, like a wisp of air. I realized it was my fault as I was driving slowly on the fast lane.
This poses us with some similar challenges as there are multiple lanes available in life, and we also have a choice to set our own pace. However, there is only one fast lane available on which you will observe all high achievers in life are currently on. They are the ones who have set the highest standards in all the domains of life which, in turn, forced them to move fast. There is absolutely no margin for running slow on this fast lane. And if you are a slow runner and come upon this path, then you run the risk of not matching their pace, with fast movers moving all over you.
The 'regular lanes' are left to people who are quite content with their present circumstances, and have already compromised mentally and physically with the set standards they had related to their income level, health, relationships, etc. This scenario is like a cruise mechanism they have set in their life, so irrespective of the things happening around them, they are just going at their set pace.
If you are interested in knowing those people who are currently driving in the slower lane, then look around. You will come across many who have been superseded in their jobs, or have not been able to fulfill goals, or have lost some valuable relationships along the way, etc.
Are you in a similar situation? If you are, then this is the right time to shift gears to get something better in your life. Change your mental gears and set higher standards for yourself. This shift will force you to match your efforts in order to turn your dreams into reality.
• People who set high personal standards tend to work harder
• Having strong determination drives people to be successful
• One can still move higher by changing one's attitude/goals
