There was a bump on the road, but my friend just drove carelessly. Then he started laughing at his careless driving; obviously he enjoyed it. I asked him why he did it and if he was not worried that his reckless way of driving would cause serious damage to the car. ''This car is a rental car. I do not need to be gentle with it,'' he said.
This led me to think of how the many unsuccessful people are living their lives in this world. They treat their precious ''gift of life'' like a ''rental'' and decide to just live without any objectives. This demarcates the successful mindset from the unsuccessful one. Remember that any amount of materialistic gain does not determine one's success, rather the type of life philosophy which is going through our head right now determines our fate. So if we focus on changing that philosophy as a first step, we can actually achieve much.
Let's take another example to understand this concept. Imagine sitting in front of your television set with a remote control in your hand. Some channels are good and informative which can play a huge part in your learning and development. However, there are also channels which, if watched for a long period of time, might drain you out. Each television channel has a defined frequency which you can tune in to. Station frequencies are available at your fingertips, but you still have to choose which one you want to stay focused on and just enjoy watching.
Similarly, each person has the power to choose which values, principles and life philosophies he wants to tune in to. If you start tuning your mental channels towards the positive aspects, then you will reward yourself with the results of your good decision.
We must be gentle and responsible with life. Your decisions and right thinking will put you on the road to success.
• Changing your mindset is the first step to achieve your goals
• Choose values that will lead you to make the right decisions
• Any amount of materialistic gain does not determine success
