Persistence key to career success

Noticeable achievements happen when one keeps trying over the yearsImage Credit: Supplied

If you are fond of watching TV, then you have surely seen commercials with flashy words and catchy phrases telling you that you can instantly change something within yourself in a day or so. You have definitely seen commercial models getting thinner and prettier in a short period of time and heard famous actors’ success stories.

In the real world, getting the results you want takes untiring and consistent efforts over an extended period of time. Merchants understand that they will not be able to persuade the consumers to buy their products if they inform them that it takes months or years before they can achieve the desired results.

When we hear about the wonderful changes and the magnificent achievements people made in their careers, we tend to have the credulity to duplicate those results. We tend to think that they can be done in just a blink of an eye. There is no quick fix in life. Each and every noticeable growth or career achievement happens in months or years.

Many people try with the aim of achieving instant success. If not quickly rewarded, they wind up feeling worse than they did before they even started. This is the reason why many people balk soon after their initial attempts.

Everyone must understand that any positive change is possible, but it does not come immediately. When you started school, you did not expect to learn a second language, algebra or the history of the world in the first week, did you? Education took more than a decade before it provided you with an incredible amount of knowledge.

Plan an audacious career goal. The process will not be easy. It will be littered with challenges, setbacks and disappointments, but it will definitely bring you success someday.

Handy Hints
