Like me, I know you also have your fair share of interesting stories from the elders back in the day when life was simple, relationships were genuine, self-contentment was high and greed was little. It was also the time when we had small houses but bigger hearts, were physically far yet close to our relations, and had lesser worldly possessions but bigger values.
But history is really dynamic and challenging such that time has changed so much in our lives. It has changed the meaning of many things around us. Now, we have bigger and fancier but broken homes, are egoistic but with little temper, have more qualifications but lesser sense, have more knowledge and information but lesser intellect and wisdom, hire more experts from all parts of the world yet face more problems, have advanced medical sciences but less wellness.
This age has people going to the outer space and landing on the moon, yet some have trouble meeting their brothers and sisters or even aging parents. Science has let us conquer the outer space, yet we haven't fully discovered the human emotional needs of man. There are high-tech cellular phones and global connectivity everywhere, but literally no time to connect with loved ones.
It is about time we spent a few moments from our busy schedules with our loved ones before it is too late. Remind our consciousness to always say kind words to our kids before the adult life captures their attention away from us. Doing this forces us to leave a bit of a legacy by virtue of good deeds so that people would still remember our contributions even after we are gone.
So, clear your heart and soul today from afflicted relationships over the years by caring, giving respect and finding time to interact with the important people in your life. As Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said, ''we are not human beings who are going through a spiritual experience rather spiritual beings who are going through human experience.''
• The modern world drives technology away from humanity
• Always find time to spend a few moments with loved ones
• Leave a legacy to your children by saying kind words to them
