What to learn from the reverses in life

The road ahead was jampacked, so I had to reverse my car for a few yards and do a quick turn. A vehicle's reverse gear has an amazing ability to turn to a different direction and restart your journey if you are stuck somewhere and cannot go on.

We similarly encounter reversals in life in the form of temporary defeats or failures. However, they are not permanent. They just give us the opportunity to change our direction, but not our destination.

Sadly, there are those who make a different interpretation of such a scenario and take everything personally, declaring themselves as failures. Remember, in such situations, only our methods have failed, not us.

I recently read a news article about a secondary school wherein 65% of the students did not qualify for exams. What would happen to those poor souls who have failed and might have been tagged as failures by their family and friends?

Majority of people who attained mega success or have come up with brilliant inventions were not toppers in their exams or classes. They were the ''failures,'' but they did not stop on the way. They kept improvising until they created magnificent inventions that none had done before.

In this game of life, nothing is final. All of us have abundant chances to convert our temporary setbacks into platforms to recover, learn and improve.

So, never get disappointed by the tags and titles given to you by people who only have negative things to say. You were born to succeed as long as you keep learning from your failures and mistakes.

Change your gear now, and give it a forward thrust.

Handy Hints:

• You will only succeed if you take action, move on and persevere

• Success is possible for everyone but it is not always instant

• Never let obstacles hold you back from reaching your dreams
