A Capacity & Implementation Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating majortechnical changes, assuring that the various environments in scope always havesufficient capacity for a cost effective service in accordance with their criticality andagreed service levels.He/she forecasts and plans the capacity requirements in scope, then converts theserequirements into requests for hardware and drives those changes from approval tocut over by creating and agreeing on a plan with the stake-holders and issuing tasks on adetailed technical level. He/she ensures that these tasks are prioritized and that resourcesin Application Management as well as other relevant departments are allocated to meetthe delivery dates. He/she follows up on deviations from the plans in a timely manner andescalates where necessary.Typical implementations range from standard infrastructure changes over new systemsetups to the introduction of new infrastructure components including definition ofstandards and first time installation. The coordination activities also cover serverinstallations from delivery to Operating System readiness.Where applicable, he/she will also participate in the definition and enhancement ofworkflow automation tools in order to improve quality, throughput and delivery times ofthose changes. Most of the responsibilities are related to ITIL v3 Service Design and Service Transitionprocesses, i.e. mainly Capacity, Availability, IT Service Continuity and Information SecurityManagement as well as Transition Planning & Support, Change, Release/Deployment andAsset & Configuration Management. Main ResponsibilitiesForecasting and capacity planningSizing of new requirements, support for business casesProvide input for hardware procurement.Auditing of systems and applications performance Build, maintain and publishimplementation plans (high and detailed level).Identify non-standard aspects of implementation requests early in theimplementation phase and build the required changes into the plan.Contribute to the overall prioritization of activities making sure it is in line with Application Management s plans.Lead application planning jointly and in close cooperation with ApplicationManagement where needed.Request or configure changes to workflow automation tools if needed to covernew infrastructure components.Maintain a documentation repository for an implementation.Report implementation status, assessing risks and seeking mitigation whenneeded.Assure that all operational requirements are met before cut over.
