The role of the Cloud Platform Architect is to develop and maintain the Cloud architecture and technology roadmaps for a strategic cloud platform.This role is focusing on AWS Cloud area.The AWS Cloud Architect needs to collaborate with Supplier and Shell staff on architectures for AWS Cloud services that support Shell requirements and strategies. They need to develop standards, reference architectures and practices to guide the use of ITSO services in business IT projects. Review and assure architectures for ITSO and business IT projects. *AccountabilitiesThe AWS Cloud Architect is accountable for supporting the Lead HS&M Architect in defining the current and target architecture and standards for the AWS Cloud domains in consultation with the suppliers. AWS Cloud spans hosting, storage, middleware, database, network, security and related services managed and delivered by ITSO.The AWS Cloud Architect provides guidance to the AWS SME group and instructs the Shell Solution Architects on cloud standards, deployment patterns and defines and maintains the domain-specific architecture roadmaps. The AWS Cloud Architect develops and maintains the Shell Target Operating Environment reference architectures in his area.The AWS Cloud Architect works closely with assigned supplier architect(s) and key Shell SME s and stakeholders to determine potential use of new technologies and solutions for Shell within his area.Support the Lead Architect in - Collaborating with portfolio management, strategy and planning, supplier architects and service managers, business service managers, supplier delivery leadership, business IT infrastructure and application architects, and product managers and consultants from key technology and product providers to develop fully coordinated integrated strategic and tactical infrastructure plans.- Providing domain specific input into the 5-year Portfolio and 3-year TOE and the 1-year tactical infrastructure plans.- Providing the domain specific review and input into the enterprise architecture roadmaps.- Ensuring stakeholder management and governance of strategic and tactical technology plans.- Scan the market and develop, publish and present technology trend and strategy briefings for ITSO and business IT leadership.- Proposing, initiating and managing proof-of-concepts and system technical changes.- Reviewing IT projects for compliance with technology standards.- Providing consultation, advice and input to IT projects with large infrastructure components throughout Shell. Provide direction to projects in effective use of architecture tools and methods, including appropriate documentation and records, SA (System Architect) and reference architectures.- Gathering planning inputs from benchmarking and service operations and factoring these into architecture plans and roadmaps.- Recommending continuous service improvements based on best practices from inside and outside the organization in technology, process, management and tools, including benchmarking findings.*Dimensions Budget Indirect budget accountability Responsible for the Shell group IT infrastructure AWS Cloud architecture with total in-scope spend of$UnknownNumber of direct and indirect reports 0*Special ChallengesDevelop and maintain of the AWS Cloud landscaping (target / roadmap) Infrastructure Architecture for the whole of Shell.Working closely with suppliers, partners, supplier delivery, IRM, LOI/FE and others to ensure Reference architecture and roadmaps and plans account for business requirements and can be applied effectively.Building and maintaining a collaborative relationship with Supplier architects, operations, IRM, Network SME, AWS SME s and Shell ITSO and Enterprise architects to ensure Reference architecture and roadmaps and plans account for business requirements and can be applied effectively.A specific focus on emerging cloud technologies and associated integration capabilities as the market developsRequirementsExperience & QualificationsMandatoryAware of Architecture frameworks, principles, policies, standards and governance processes (or related like TOGAF) preferably TOGAF certifiedExperience in one or more of the following architecture disciplines - technical, data, application, or integrationExperience on integrating SaaS, PaaS, IaaS solutions with on-premise backend transactional and master data sourcesIn addition expertise and competencies in the following areas are required- Significant breadth of professional skills and technical expertise coupled with the ability to engage directly and deeply with business and suppliers.- Substantial experience in IT roles such as operations, consultancy, business analysis, applications and infrastructure architecture or enterprise IT Architect capacity/role is preferred.- In depth knowledge and experience with the AWS Cloud Platform on native capabilities, standard solutions, reference architectures, DevOps models, Security, Integration, access and connectivity, Scripting, Automation.Preferred A university degree, preferably in Information Technology, Information Management, Software Engineering, or related fieldAt least 5 years experience in roles where they held similar accountabilities to those listed above preferably demonstrate experience with enterprise scale solutionsStrong interpersonal/communication skills, both oral and written. Good storytelling capabilities.
