As the local media contact for all media queries in the country, this role needs to proactively develop relationship with press and electronic media as well organise press conference, media interviews, craft press reports and speeches, arrange media familiarization trips to our sites. For a media interview, the role must do a check on the background of media and journalist, understand the media agenda and angle of story before committing to the interview prepare the messaging and the spokesperson moderate the interview or deflect leading questions On a daily basis, be involved in building a network of media contacts. This is to actively seek opportunities in pitching stories to the media as part of our strategy in mastering consumers conversation and bringing our sustainability agenda further. During crisis situation, the role need to work closely with the site and business/Country head to prepare internal staff communications and media communications tool kit including news statement, responses and reports during crisis as well as monitor the situation closely with HSES and businesses when situation arises in factory (eg accident, strikes, contamination). Media coverage must be scanned daily and scenarios planning and media statements to be made accordingly. Constantly exploring leadership profile opportunities via conference speaking, media interview and partnerships.As India is a listed entity, this role needs to work with Investor Relations Officer, Chief Finance Officer for the listed entity to report the Quarterly and Annual results of the company to investors and media. The person will also be responsible in conjunction with finance to create the Annual report of AkzoNobel India.Job requirements / Candidate profile- Degree in communications/PR or journalism, with exceptional writing and presentation skills- A strong and established network of (traditional and non-traditional) general and specialized media and other key opinion former contacts- Experience working in an international matrix organization- More than 8 years experience in communications and media relations - Experience with complex communication issues, crisis communications and spokesmanship- Understanding of new communications techniques, digital engagement platforms and the ability to translate these into business opportunities- Understanding of market trends and the ability to translate these into communication opportunities- Proven ability to manage and implement both national and global external communications campaigns with a proven track record of digital campaigns and execution- Pro-active attitude and comfortable with working under pressure- Team player with an open and energetic attitude, easy to shift between tasks and responsibilities who can work independently as well. Not a 9 till 5 attitude and comfortable with working under pressure.- Communications skills which include writing skills and good language proficiency in English and preferably also in one of the language of the countries that the role is looking after- Event Management especially crisis management skills- Media Relations and Network- Crisis Communications experience
Degree: MBA/ PGDM
