Key Accountabilities and Skills required Manage end to end project delivery teams using Agile methodologies. Assist as required in the requirements analysis for system enhancements and changes. Fully understand the technical details and develop code as needed. Candidate must have strong hands-on technical capabilities in J2EE and / or UI (HTML5) development. Craft innovative solutions that will support scalable, performant, robust architectures. Creation of technical design documents adhering to predefined standards. Provide day-to-day direction to the technical team to ensure that project milestones are completed on schedule and to budget. Active engagement in technology and Innovation forums to ensure that best practices are followed in the team. Providing coaching and ensuring adaption of Agile & DevOps methodologies to the wider team and department Working with the global leads to agree on release schedules, providing regular updates to stakeholders regarding progress Partnering with the Production Support team, analyzing issues and addressing complex user requests. Management of people including setting objectives and expectations, recognition and discipline, annual reviews, etc. Working with global leads to refine global operating models, adapting to organisational and project changes in a fluid, non-disruptive approach. Designing and capturing metrics regarding team productivity with the aim of incrementally improving team performance. Stakeholder management and leadership. The candidate will be expected to work closely with the global leads and product owners from the business. Must be able to demonstrate good stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, with strong and influential personal credibility Communicate directly with business analysts and project managers, understanding detailed business requirements at all stages of the development lifecycle. Communicate effectively with the other external IT development teams and the local development manager. Lead and motivate a local team of up to 12-15 developers that may comprise full-time and / or vendor partners. Drive move towards Lean & Agile methodologies aligned with the firms DDLA strategy. Ensure that deliveries are completed as per stakeholder expectations, on schedule, as per regulatory requirements. Conduct appraisals and performance review of team members, provide regular feedback via frequent 11 meetings and give guidance on personal development plans. Facilitate local recruitment to build out the team as necessary. Work with local and global management to identify and maintain a lean and high performing development team. Demonstrate ability to manage communications across multiple regions and significant time-zone gaps. Expected to be an excellent verbal and written communicator, have strong organization skills, with ability to liaise at all levels of the technology organization. Produce status reporting appropriate to various audiences on a regular basis. Experience in designing and developing of server-side business applications using object oriented programming, web services, n-tier and service oriented architectures Hands on experience in Core Java, J2EE, JDBC, Spring, Hibernate, Web Services, REST API development Experience of HTML5, Javascript and related frameworks such as AngularJS, jQuery. Strong Knowledge of SQL and relation databases. Experience with; Linux and Bash Scripting. Autosys for batch control MQ for messaging Able to document system architectures and process flow Able to work well with IT developers in multiple locations and across other teams Ability to multitask, excellent problem solving skills, able to shift priorities quickly Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred qualifications BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Physics, Maths or other relevant subjects. Previous line management experience. Knowledge of software development best practices and the software development life cycle using Agile methodologies. Experience with software release/build processes (e.g., Continuous Integration, Automated Deployment, Test Driven Development, etc.) Experience and knowledge of tools like JIRA Teamcity/Jenkins, Perforce, Nexus, Perforce, Git and Confluence Independent and creative in approach to problems and issues and be proactive, flexible and hard working Collaborative team approach and good work ethic. Energetic and motivated, willing to take on challenging tasks, work independently and take on time pressure.
