SQL IT AnalystAs an Information Technology (IT) Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work both independently and with a cooperative team on complex projects that may span multiple infrastructure components or applications. You will develop your professional network and leadership skills, assisting in the creation and support of IT Solutions that enable Caterpillar success. Further, you will contribute real value by developing, integrating, and/or supporting in-house and purchased applications or infrastructure solutions in order to solve business problems.Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to1) Provide implementation of SQL Server projects as well as required business support of current SQL Server database environments. Work with SQL Server technical leadership team in Caterpillar Provide input to project teams to set realistic milestone target dates Interface with customers to configure SQL Server and vendor solutions to meet requirements Work with application owners on change communications and scheduling Follow established SQL Server technical procedures and provide input on how to improve these procedures and establish missing procedures. Deploy services packs/fixes, perform upgrades, provide maintenance and support for numerous Production and pre-Production environments, independently without reliance on Microsoft support Troubleshoot user and system problems and resolve Helpdesk tickets, independently without reliance on Microsoft support Interface/communicate with various IT groups to request services, comply with all established change management procedures Provide off shift support via on call pager rotation schedule. Architect solutions to support database consolidation and centralization of existing applications from remote locations. Provide and share technical expertise with the current team on security, backup/recovery and performance tuning.2) Deliverables Provide a weekly report on project status, day-to-day support activities of current SQL Server database environment including time spent on each task to Caterpillar SQL Server Supervisor and Team Leader.Success Criteria/ Skill Requirements Meet assigned project due dates Provide status updates on a weekly basis to Caterpillar SQL Server Supervisor and Team Leader Provide status updates to Caterpillar project team lead as needed Provide day-to-day SQL Server environment support in accordance to Caterpillar SQL Server standards and best practices. Provide knowledge transfer to team on SQL Server best practices.Required Qualifications* Computer-related or Engineering-related four year College or University Degree* 3 to 6 years of SQL Server DBA experience* Installation and configuration of SQL Server. Perform account management, database backups and restore.* Work with application and infrastructure groups to resolve issues and implement changes.* Monitor database* Managing database performance* Off-shift support duties are required* Strong communication, teamwork and coordination skills* Ability to work with multiple customers/projects simultaneously* Ability to follow established standards and processesDesired Qualifications* Experience in 'Always On' technlogy* Understanding of SQL Server Licensing * ITIL knowledge or experience* Knowledge of Sarbanese-Oxley Processes* Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements
