Responsibilities and Accountabilities Must have at least 2 years of prior relevant experience in Biological Safety (Biosafety) as well as chemical waste management. Good communication and interpersonal skills Must have initiative and good organizing ability Able to work independently and manage projects from start to finish Creative problem solving, customer service, planning and influence skills Experience with working on projects in the country Requires a bachelor s degree in safety engineering, environmental or industrial hygiene or a comparable field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience. Must have thorough knowledge of India EHS legislation. Should have at least 4 years of EHS management experience including staff supervision, budget accountability and project managementd) This position is also responsible for leading the health & safety committee, the green team and the top sustainability initiatives for India, ie cross-functional productivity initiatives, including waste /packaging reduction.e) Identify, evaluate, prevent and control EHS hazards at all sites to ensure legal and corporate compliance. Provide technical knowledge, as required, in the development of EHS controls, programs, and general workplace hazard control strategiesf) Develop, implement and maintain a system of inspection and/or audits to monitor EHS performance at all sites.g) Develop, implement and maintain a system of EHS training for all India employeesh) Act as the lead India advisor to the Head of EHS APJ and advise senior management on actions necessary to comply with legal and corporate EHS requirements at their sites.i) Act as the on the ground dotted line lead for the SDS Authoring Team, liaising as necessary with the global lead.j) Act as the lead interface with India regulatory agencies, government departments and vendors on all EHS matters.k) Lead the investigation of serious EHS incidents as necessary.l) Identify and secure resource needs to meet all legal and corporate requirements at all India sites.m) Manage the site EHS budgets.n) May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.Minimum Qualifications a) This position will develop, implement, maintain and manage environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs at the sites, including conducting lab inspections, site audits, new employee orientation, and regulatory record keeping/reporting, so as to ensure compliance with all legal and corporate requirements.b) Lead the promotion of excellence in safety culture and excellence in sustainable environmental performance across LSG India ensuring EHS standards in India. As required, assist the Facilities and EHS Lead APJ in the interpretation of India regulations. Contribute, as required, to the delivery of EHS globally within the companyc) Develop, implement and maintain systems to secure and to continually improve EHS performance at all sites, creating excellence in a safety culture and environmental sustainability and ensure compliance with all legal and corporate requirements.
