This position is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the organization'sinformation and technology needs, including the implementation and integration of system and technology initiatives necessary to achieve organizational goals. Duties include developing,recommending and documenting plans, policy, standards, procedures and checklists; managing technology assets and budget; network management and ensuring continuous network operations;assessing, designing and providing system and technology training; managing and maximizing the utilization of the technology center; analyzing requirements and developing functional and designspecifications; providing system and technical support to users; assisting users maximize technology; recommending and implementing system and technology solutions and improvements;troubleshooting systems and technology; automating organizational tasks; and supervising activities and staff.The position is ultimately responsible for all IT and IS related matters of the organization. Tasks and ResponsibilitiesTechnology Management o Manage the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and majormodifications to the company s IS infrastructure.o Plan, develop and implement network security. o Manage the administration and maintenance of the company's network infrastructure.o Manage troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary.o Work with project teams to help implement Internal Systems. o Manage the IS helpdesk for internal and external users.o Build and maintain vendor relationships and manage the purchase of hardware and software products.o Manage the purchasing of all software, hardware and other IS supplies at the organizational level.o Ensure that organizations IT assets are maintained responsibly. o Manage the security and compliance of all IT systems in accordance with theorganizational policies and mandates per adopted standards. o Manage all upgrades and patches as necessary by the organizational policies andmandates per adopted standards. o Manage all IS environments including the Production and Test systems.o Manage and maintain up-time/system availability on all IT systems as required by internal and external SLAs. o Develop and manage the IT/S strategy of the organizationParticipate in internal IT/S as part of the organizations IS Audit Team. oParticipate in Incident Response Planning as part of the organizations Incident oResponse Team. General Management o Initiate and implement improvements in all areas of IT responsibility. o Serve as main point of contact on all IT-related matters for the office assigned.o Responds/acts on upper-management and board directives. o Identify and provide standards for gathering information for use in trend analysis andreports information to company management. o Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentor those with less experiencethrough formal channels. o Help teams execute career development plans.o Seek and participate in development opportunities above and beyond training required. o Train other innovators and clients through both formal and informal training programs.o Encourage more junior innovators to take responsibility for their development within the company.o Challenge fellow innovators to progress toward their professional development goals. o Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of information systems andinfrastructure. o Develop and implement policies and procedures for electronic data processing andcomputer systems operations and development. o Hire and manage information systems personnel and contractors to design, develop,implement, operate and administer computer and telecommunications software, networks and information systems.o Control the computer systems budgets and expenditures. o Ensure continuous learning and appraisal of ones self as well as the team to keep up with the latest technologies, standards and industry best practices.Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent IT Bachelors Degree. An MSc in Computing would be preferred. CAPM, PMP, CompTIA Project+ or equivalent industry certification in Project Management. ITIL v3 Intermediate or above, or equivalent IT Service Management qualifications. Adequate knowledge of, through qualifications or demonstrated experience, Windows based environments, Sun Solaris, Oracle Databases and Networking concepts. 5+ years of experience in a managerial position in an IT environment. Skills and Competencies Excellent communication skills in all forms of communication. Ability to analyze and recognize areas of improvement which can be impacted by IT. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong leadership and management skills for effective teamwork. Strong negotiation skills for IS related procurement and supplier relationship management. Strong interpersonal skills. Travel DemandsThe candidate will be required to travel as and when the need arises Reporting toThis role / position reports to the Technical Operations Manager.
