Charterhouse is working with an international client in Qatar who is looking to hire a Head of Legal (Arabic Speaking) to join this established organisation. You will take full responsibility of the Legal Department whilst managing a small team already in place. Reporting to the CEO, you will maintain all legal compliance locally and internationally, contract management and keep abreast with industry changes and regulatory frameworks. You will also be responsible for all corporate and commercial legal matters from finance and commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border ventures, litigation, arbitration, employment and labour law and IP for the company. The successful candidate should possess a minimum of 10 years post qualified experience gained within the shipping, logistics, maritime or oil and gas sector within the GCC. Ideally you should have a Masters in International Business. Exposure to legal practices and laws in international jurisdictions is required and work experience in Qatar would be advantageous. You should possess strong knowledge of corporate / commercial and cross-border litigation as well as arbitration transactions. You should also have the ability to work efficiently and proactively in a fast-paced environment. Strong spoken and written English and Arabic communication skills are essential.
