Position :: Instrument Inspector ( Vendor Site )
Reports to: Functionally to QA/QC Coordinator/TPI Coordinator and hierarchically to Project / Asset Quality Leads
Duties and Responsibilities
Witness and monitor Vendors / Construction Contractors work activities, inspection and test in accordance with the approved Quality Plan, ITP, Quality Procedures and method statements etc.
Assist review of Construction Contractors quality control plans / ITPs, Quality Procedures, method statements and all pertained QA/QC documentation prior to commencement of any related work.
Assist Project Team in instrumentation inspection/test activities during construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
Verify the implementation of PTW (permit to work) and other safety procedures.
Verify that equipment is preserved per the Vendor’s recommendation and the approved preservation procedures.
Ensure installed instrument and control equipment is certified for area classification.
Inspect all instrument installations, cabling, terminations, tagging and calibration of instruments and ensure quality criteria are met.
Witness FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)/SAT (Site Acceptance Test) as relevant.
Raise punch and verify punch items as soon as work is complete.
Identify counterfeit items during inspection or surveillance and report immediately.
Degree Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent or appropriate craft training and trade certificate with Ex certification.
8+ years experience in inspection, out of which 2 years shall be gained in onshore Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries.
Good experience in QA/QC, Inspection, construction, commissioning and maintenance of SCADA and instrumentation work for projects in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Construction Facilities. The experience shall include electronic and pneumatic equipment including analogue and digital control systems, relay based and solid state logic systems, transmitters, control valves and accessories, with field Bus Control and PLC Based safe Guarding systems quality measurement.
Have knowledge of industrial codes (NEC, CEC, IEC, UL, NFPA, ISO 9001, API, and etc.).
Experience of working to and fully conversant with CoPs, PRs, SPs, GUs ( documents), including Shell DEPs.
Understanding of FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and/or SAT (String Acceptance Testing).
Have knowledge of installation testing and Loop checking / commissioning practices for related equipment and systems.
Have system architecture and hardware knowledge of various systems – DCS, vibration, SIS, PLCs, F&G, and etc.
Able to read and understand Drawings (P&IDs, loop checking, logic checking etc.)
Able to identify MATERIALS that are sub-standard and that do not meet the requirements of the job specification (rogue and counterfeit items).
Able to review and interpret quality records and determine associated compliance with requirements (Performance data, test record, inspection record etc.)
