This positions primary function is to design and develop new control system technology for passenger car and commercial vehicle powertrain systems. The scope of responsibility includes development of conceptual solutions, analytics, and hardware needed to validate critical questions, delivery of proof-of-concept prototypes, and transition of new technology to the product development organizations. The technical domain is embedded control systems for vehicular powertrain application Contributes to the creation of new product opportunities that provide value through technology.Creates commercially viable solutions to control system challenges in the vehicle powertrain domain. Defines, plans, and executes all engineering aspects of a prototype control system development project including analysis, design, implementation, and test.Invents new intellectual property that enables value creation. Oversees the installation of prototype control systems into development vehicles and dynamometers.Interacts with engineers, designers, and technicians to accomplish project objectives. Interacts with customer, partner, and supplier organizations to accomplish project objectives. Clearly communicates to management and stakeholders both verbally and in writing. Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)MTech/PhD in Mechanical/Electrical/Controls/Instrumentation with 10+ years experience in Vehicular powertrain systems with specialized knowledge in controls design, development and implementation for transmissions and torque controls products.Expert knowledge of algorithm development for control of dynamic systems, model based development, controls architecture definition, development of software and embedded controls and implementation.Expert knowledge of physical modeling and simulation techniques for dynamic systems. Experience with the integration of systems composed of mechanical, electrical, communication, and control Experience with working in cross functional technical teams to accomplish objectives. Position requires a keen eye for good product design, manufacturability, customer savvy, presentation skills, ability to work in a multicultural environment, business acumen, dealing with ambiguity and building an effective team.
