Primary FunctionThe primary function of the Lead Engineer, Global Engineering Project Management is to be the Project Manager lead for all Capital investments being executed by Global Engineering at the assigned site(s). He/she will provide the necessary leadership, resources (internal and external) and management support to ensure the success of all Global Engineering projects at the specified site(s). The engineer is also responsible to directly manage projects as assigned by the Managing Engineer, Global Engineering Project Management and to partner with other Global Engineering Project Managers to ensure proper project management of all Capital investments globally. Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeads site based project managers (internal and external) in the execution ofCapital investment projects.Accountable for Capital projects to be delivered on schedule and budgetand to meet customer / business requirements.Responsible to drive site based project managersto exhibit leadership and ownership of Capital projects from concept to completion of first lot to stock / licensureProvides leadership for the planning, development, and ongoing tracking of annual Capital spending plan for the specified site(s).Integrates cost reduction, best project management skills, and ongoing execution improvement into capital projects.Partner with other site based engineering and project management staffResponsible for partnering with Safety organization to ensure proper safety programs are in place and effective (meet corporate goals) for construction personnel.Assigns work to project managers. Establishes priorities in relation to other project work being done in the Corporation/Department. Ascertains the Global Engineerings rules, policies and procedures when appropriate.Manages engineering work in progress to insure that there is adequate interface and coordination with various regulatory groups to insure compliance with Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Control regulations and policies.Consults on the engineering design of new facilities, processes, and equipment for compliance with Global standards and FDA regulation and federal law.Key participant in the preparation of the Capital Plan from concepts to budgetary estimates.Provides engineering input into long-range planning efforts for key products, processes and long-range development.Manages the development of the assigned project managers to constantly improve the breadth of technical and project management knowledge.Continuously benchmark facility and equipment technology world-wide to assure that statistically competent, competitive and high quality manufacturing process are implemented.Through continuous evaluation of pharmaceutical facility trends worldwide, assures that the technical expertise. Identifies gaps in expertise and develops plans to upgrade skills of current project management personnel or develops plans to recruit personnel with necessary skills.Experience, Skills, Educational RequirementsBachelor s degree in engineering or related field; specificallyElectrical, Chemical or Mechanical. Master s degree preferred.Not less than 4 years pharmaceutical industry experience preferred good technical knowledge on experience in global engineering (GE) roles on API front (individuals past experience may exhibit GE roles in formulations ).Experience in aseptic manufacturing technology.Technical experience in pharmaceutical facility design and construction (i.e. Aseptic filling, packaging). Plant experience at the management level is preferred.A minimumof 8 years experiencein preferred. A minimum of 4 years experience managing consulting and contract engineering resources in support of capital project implementation preferred.
