Job Details

Facilitates release planning meetings with key stakeholders to identify proper sequencing of release packages. Ensures that issues and risks are identified, understood and dealt with in a manner that mitigates risk to scope and schedule.Defines and documents the release recommendation for each release and/or change to production. Includes release scope, schedule, deliverables and rollback plan. Reviews release recommendation with key stakeholders.Oversees release decisions and processes in terms of the big picture/cross department impacts.Maintains release management schedule for specific (for assigned) system(s).Documents and communicates all the changes for a release in release notes which are published to both the Project Manager, Business Leads, Engineering Dev team, QE Team and Operations.Attends Change management and deployment planning meetings to collect data and information pertaining to the release.Pursues IT and Project compliance with release acceptance criteria.Accommodates a flexible schedule as most releases occur outside of regular business hours.Supports release execution by monitoring each phase of release. Validates the release as it progresses thru various release gates and test phases, alerts appropriate stakeholders of any errors or issues that need to be addressed.Provides release coordination and communication during and after deployment.Creates requests for change (RFC for production) and obtains appropriate approvals.Facilitates emergency releases from production incident identification to incident closure after release.Verifies capture of customer acceptance/sign off on deliverables.Identifies opportunities to make tactical improvements to release management process.Maintains documentation of all processes.Creates release management standards to be followed. Educates external vendors on the release methodology and strategy.Integrates release process with other IT process including ITSM and Waterfall/Agile processes.Manages overall non-production environment usage, configuration and scheduling of different test environments for each release.Strictly manages timing and coordination of test runs with competing projects and stakeholders who are sharing pre-production test environments.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of overall IT experience.Demonstrated skills UNIX shell programming, Perl/Python, sql databases, web technologies such as Java.Exposure to standard software development tools such as perforce, make, purify, purecov andcoverity would be added advantage.Extensive experience in design, development, review, testing, revision, management and deployment of software releases and patches.Solid understanding of practices and processes related to software programming, configuration and release management and SDLC techniques.Operational knowledge of variety of servers, operating systems, LAN systems, version-control systems and software build systems.Outstanding ability to interpret and implement process improvement techniques to enhance efficiency of software project processes effectively.Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development.Understand other processes and methodologies and can speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to a team/enterpriseApplicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team (Data warehousing and BI, ERP, Oracle Fusion Middelware, Demantra, Hyperion Essbase, OBIEE, OBIA, Any BI Tools) is a great plus.Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team.Ability to work in a team-oriented collaborative environment.PMI certification as a project management professional is a plus.
