The Business Analyst will function as a member of the Data Management team as a security data expert. Working closely with various business units a successful candidate will be the liaison between business leaders, cross functional stakeholders, external partners and Technology to ensure the accurate and timely accomplishment of business objectives as well as to ensure that the firms security related data is accurate. This role will have two primary functions, 1) the timely set up of new security requests from various sources, 2) the review and maintenance of the firm s security related data.ResponsibilitiesDaily Functions Responsible for the proper and timely establishment of new Equity, Fixed Income and Derivative securities. These involves the set up and review of each securitys specific details, maintaining of security data within the Security Master systems and ensuring that the data is properly flowing to all pertinent downstream systems. Provide both regularly scheduled as well as ad hoc maintenance of the data via reports, queries of various databases in addition to requests made by both internal clients and management. Ensure that the data within the Security Master System adheres to rules and decisions that have been implemented by the Columbia Threadneedle Investments Data Governance Program. Monitor and resolve exceptions from Data Management supported business and technology systems.Data Analysis Identify issues and recommend corrective courses of action, using data from a variety of sources to analyze complex business issues. Answer business questions incorporating company and industry knowledge to answer business questions, Work with various technology partners to assist in resolving system outages (when requested) Assist with testing activity during the implementation of upgrades or new security related systems as laid out in testing programs. Communicate action plans, priorities and recommendations to business managers, Technology and business partners and external partners. Support technology analysis, design and build as needed to ensure understanding and alignment of the work. Proactively identify areas for potential process improvements and effectively communicate them to management. Relevant Masters degree required. Broad understanding of the securities industry. Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to work effectively with a high level of ambiguity Experience working cross organizationally with both Business and Technology groups Ability to meet tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy Experience in Excel, Word, Access, Bloomberg. Preferred Qualifications Experience with database structures and SQL querying knowledge Knowledge of equity and fixed income securities. Understanding of derivatives and related securities Familiarity with investment accounting systems and securities operations
