A reputable logistics company is currently recruiting for a Senior Network Solutions Architect . This position will be based in Johannesburg-South AfricaJob Purpose StatementLeads the research, evaluation, planning and implementation of complex and innovative infrastructure services and solutions that enable the development and growth of the company's business (and related functions within GSPs, Customers, and Vendors). Includes network access and connectivity, systems processing and voice technologies for diverse business critical applications throughout EMEA.Job Sizenetwork services include voice, video and data technologies, information security and internet technologiesEMEA level supporttypical CLEAR value USD 15-150,00 eachbusiness critical applications include COSMOS, 2Care, CRM, Genesis etcKey AccountabilitiesBusiness and IT knowledge - Maintains an in depth knowledge of current and evolving network and voice related technologies and methodologies in the global market place, together with knowledge of the global company's infrastructure. Shares knowledge with relevant peers and IT groups.Focuses on the research and evaluation of opportunities developments that can translate into significant efficiencies or cost savings for the business. Makes recommendations with supporting rationales.Strategies and plans - Leads the development of strategies and plans for assigned infrastructure, network-related services and or solutions for use within the EMEA and global FedEx operating environments (Customer Service voice technologies, EMEA MPLS, Internet services, Employee remote access, etc.). Includes researching and evaluating the diverse and highly complex alternatives within the marketplace and developing recommendations and rationales that would incorporate innovative and emerging technologies. Network development - Leads the design and development of EMEA network service technical architecture ensuring compatibility with the US and compliance with complex regulatory requirements. Solutions need to accommodate changingfuture applications. Includes full project management of multi-discipline, technical experts within company's and external vendor service companies. Network service assurance - Leads the management of consistent and effective EMEA network service assurance. Performs accurate evaluation of country specific requirements and develops and recommends appropriate standards, policies and procedures ensuring they address local country and EMEA technical and business needs.Ensures all ongoing changes and additions to network service infrastructure comply with defined standards, policies and procedures and identifies and reports compliance issues.Network support- Leads the organisation, management, and enactment of tier three EMEA network service supportproblems including logging, researching and analysing highly complex application and network service infrastructure within the company's EMEA and global enterprise, commercially available public network services, and GSPVendor network environments. Implements appropriate temporary and or permanent solutions that meet our specific business environmental needs.Business planning - Leads the business planning processes for assigned capital and expense-related areas including the investigation, development, and implementation of complexhigh value solutions. Leads the CLEAR process for complexhigh value infrastructure and networkvoice services. Monitors and controls assigned processproject budgets within defined limits.Network service management - Leads the evaluation and testing of all types of new network service management tools and products that support the EMEA business in accurately determining the availability, performance and capabilities of EMEA network services and commercially available network services. Recommends specific benefits, technical, and business implementation methodologies including the potential to extend the use of the solution within EMEA and corporate global standards. With approval integrates using the agreed methodologies.Business continuity - Designs and leads network, datacentre, and voice related business continuity disaster recovery initiatives by establishing effective processes, procedures, and controls to ensure that all technical modifications and developments are correctly evaluated and tested prior to production implementation. Develops pertinent and appropriate documentation regarding all aspects of EMEA network and voice services and ensures updated availability for all who require its use.Service level management -Supports the development of effective service-level management capabilities by leading the research, development, and implementation of newenhanced hardwaresoftware tools. Includes the related processes to define, measure, and report on infrastructure networks, voice technologies, systems, and application response times for company's EMEA and Corporate business applications. Uses the tools to review and report service level performance including recommendations on corrective actions or situation enhancement.Vendor selection and management - Leads the process to research and evaluate EMEA vendor capabilities and select the best provider based on approved parameters (cost, service, capabilities and fiscal position). Typically focuses on high complexityhigh value vendor reviews. Includes supporting less experienced peers with the evaluation process. Manages vendor performance by establishing clear performance expectations ensuring that work group task and service activities are correctly defined with measurable objectives for service level monitoring. Reviews ongoing vendor performance, including evaluating the competitiveness of charges versus current market conditions. Recommends to management actions needed to improve performancecosts, escalating serious or repetitive issues. Project Management - Leads and manages multiple complex EMEA projects including the roll out of Corporate initiatives. Uses effective project management processes and tools to control all aspects of the project (timing, resources, generation and distribution of timely status updates, management notification where milestones are at risk etc).Technical advice - Provides technical advice and informational services to IT and Functional groups relating to current or potential network services. Advises less experienced peers on more complex areas.Evaluates training needs and leads the design of approved network service related technical training.
