Work with business teams specifically with Research Innovation, Consumer Monitoring and Quality to provide consumer and sensory guidance to meet established goals. JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION REQUIRED Essentially Masters / preferably doctoral degree in relevant field such as Food science, Sensory science required EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 7 to 10 years of total working experience in FNB R&D, out of this 3 -5 years in sensory and consumer research experience, along with understanding in flavor chemistry, Product development, Stability science and statistical analysis will be a plus. Person should have experience in building, training, and using expert sensory panel including complete statistical analysis, report generation and clear recommendations to the team. OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED Proven experience in the design and / or implementation of sensory programs, sensory and consumer research, applied statistical analysis, Design of Experiments and evaluation of new products. Good communication skills, (written and verbal) to communicate sensory and product insight findings with business and project teams, leadership and management ability, computer literacy, team building skill that focus on mentoring and coaching. Should be able to be self directed, forward thinking and make complex decisions that drive business performance. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES He / She shall be able to train and direct full time / part time staff -in the implementation of sensory research; -maintain accurate logs of all sensory testing and enter data into the sensory system; - to do all process and operations in accordance with GLP; - to maintain and communicate sensory schedule to various panels; - to develop a design, plan, conduct and analyze regular simple sensory tests, which can eventually be applied for complex ones; FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES Should be able to budget for annual expense of Sensory lab in terms HR requirement, equipment, travel, and external panel evaluation costs. INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS Desirable to have contact with institutions, universities and agencies that are well known and will be helpful in building the capability of department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position will require travel within the country during new product development PLACE OF WORK Britannia R&D centre, Bidadi, Karnataka. JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible in development and execution of strategies and programs in sensory evaluation, panel development and maintenance; 2. Create and design a sensory program to conduct and analyze sensory tests to guide Innovation team in delivering superior product characteristics and ensure that customer objectives are met; 3. Design and establish sensory tests and success criteria as directed by R&D Innovation and CM group; 4. Conducts sensory evaluation sessions as required by R&D Innovation & CM group; 5. Analyze, interpret and report the result of sensory analysis on an overall organoleptic properties, specific attributes and success criteria as defined by projects; 6. Develop target profiles for brands with the support of descriptive panel; 7. Recruits, trains and maintains trained internal panel (10 15 persons) on descriptive sensory analysis and consumer panel group (30 40 persons), for affective and discriminatory tests and keeps minimum number of judges according to statistical requirement in respective groups; 8. Responsible in ensuring accuracy and precision of descriptive measurement. He / She analyzes the current performance of panelists and executes plan to re-calibrate their performance in particular attributes and / or intensity area; 9. Monitors the performance of panelists for both trained and consumer panel. Takes action for improvement of trained panelists. 10. Recommends appropriate technical guidance and/or directions for product development based on sensory test results; 11. Responsible in maintaining high housekeeping standard, safe working environment, and GMP in all sensory environment and activities; 12. Maintains, develops and reviews SOPs in sensory lab; 13. Documents all product development briefs, protocols, and results in report or presentation format for technical and non-technical audience. 14. Monitors expense of sensory group; 15. Proficiency in use of software tools (Eg Compusense, Excel, or statistical software such as SPSS etc) 16. Develop and implement sensory training courses for R&D 17. Remain informed of new methodological trends in sensory and evaluate their potential application 18. Lexicon development for special product category for Britannia and training
