Job Details

Leads Transmission design and Development projects under CPT division of Vehicle group while working with global teams. This role will have responsibility of transmission subsystem concept Generation and selection, Detailed analysis, design release, resolving supplier issues, resolving issues observed in validation testing using DFSS skills as appropriate. Additionally this role will be responsible for Gear sizing & Bearing selection.Performs failure analysis, investigates and troubleshoots the issues. Coordinates all work of the project scope, and ensures that all objectives (Cost, Quality & On time delivery) are met.Takes ownership of all aspects of project lifecycle for a cost out project.Provides technical support to the business to achieve product cost savings through execution of value engineering and value analysis in timely manner. Preparation of VAVE business cases.Provides mentoring to members in the project team in CPT.Ensures internal and external customers requirement are understood correctly and met on time.Supports engineering processes viz. PROLaunch, VA/VE, Eaton corporate process (APEX, EBE etc.), and patent related activitiesCoordinates with other support resources for a timely completion of designs and drawings. Lead concept design and innovation efforts._Essential Functions _* Develops/ supports value added technical solutions for transmission development projects based on in depth technical knowledge and awareness of Global customer needs. Synergizes engineering capabilities across groups within group and with other groups in EIIC. Validate integrity & accuracy of CoE outputs as per Transmission requirements Maintains close liaison with Global Operations during the development and verification phase of NPD programs to insure smooth execution, new product introductions, conformance to product specifications, and year over year cost outs. Mentors and leads projects leveraging CoE & Commercial Powertrain resources. Fosters New patents disclosures while working on New Product development, VAVE and problem solving projects. Utilizes DFSS concepts / tools such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVPR for new product development &/or existing product improvementsBasic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)EDUCATION Minimum education for this position is a Bachelor / Masters in Mechanical Engineering, with demonstrated experience in technical engineering organization. 5-7 years of experience with multinational engineering organizationDesired Vehicle industry exposure and experience.Special Skills Powertrain engineering experience . Good analytical skills in mechanical disciplines. In-depth knowledge of various truck transmissions, gear & spline cutting, casting, forgings etc. Work & interact with global cross-functional and cross-cultural team. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to clearly communicate to internal/external customers and suppliers. Experience with CAD, FEA, CFD, Thermal, Vibration and Critical Speed analysis. Design knowledge of bearings, lubrication and system integration.
Degree: ME/ M.Tech./ MS (Engg/ Sciences)

Additional Degree: BE/ B.Tech (Engineering)
