To assist Logistics Manager in implementation of various transportation and SCM initiatives.KRAs Cost ownership for primary transportation Contractual and Non-contractual movementsContracting and Transport Management of all legs of primary transportationExecution and follow up for RM movements to manufacturing units, FG movements from manufacturing units to HUBs, HUBs to warehousesEnsuring timely availability of trucks for dispatchStatutory compliance in TransportationTraining of Transport Service Provider and Warehouse Logistics TeamComplaint Redressal with respect to TransportationTIT schedule adherence and truck utilization improvements etc.Oversee Freight bill clearance and maintain healthy turn around in coordination with finance teamsPRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Transport ManagementMonitor and evaluate the performance of various Transport service Providers on a regular basis to have more control over the operations and give feedback to the TSPs for further improvements. Target for improvements in the following areas to achieve reduced cost per unit Time in Transit through benchmarking & negotiationTruck utilization through monitoring & analysis of performance, adoption of best practicesTruck placement through monitoring against the actual indents placed for various Service providers thus ensuring timely availability of trucksRisk analysis for minimization of accident, theft, stock damage etc.Benchmarking the performance of Transport service providers across the districts and try to implement best practices to all the locations across IndiaMonitoring the Truck Detention at various warehouses and liaising with relevant warehouse management teams to rectify the sameAssist the Regional Logistics Teams in negotiating for transportation contracts and benchmarking the contracts across the districtsResponsible for freight contract negotiations and execution for the entire movements.Monitor the transportation cost. Conduct freight benchmarking within various districts and also with the market rates to evaluate the contracts and get feedback for next yearBuild capability of transportation through usage of alternative means including rail, ships etc.Analyze arrival conditions and develop operating procedures & ensure training to Transporters to ensure improved delivered quality.Implementing initiatives in Transportation in coordination with Asst Manager - Logistics, Asst Manager Warehousing Operations, HOMonitoring and controlling the actual Transportation spend against the planned budget.Monitoring and improving the TATEnsuring proper reasons are available for all delaysFreight Rate approvals in place as per SOPsStatutory Compliance To ensure the transporters are not violating transport laws.To ensure all the documents of the trucks are valid (e.g. permit, Insurance, RC etc.,)To ensure the truck drivers are having valid driving licenses.To ensure the all activities are happening according to the transport agreement.To monitor and provide feedback on transport operations within the purview of the state and central government guidelines and regulations.KEY SUCCESS FACTORSOptimum freight spend within budgetTruck placement against the actual indentsTime in Transit adherenceTruck utilization through analysis of performance and adoption of best practicesTimely resolution of all the complaints pertaining to transportationTimely updating of Master data pertaining to freightFinding new transporters for critical routes. Candidate Profile Graduates / MBAs with5-12 years relevant experience inprimary transportation in fmcg, durables, lubes, building materials, paints etc. Proficient in MS Excel, experienced in handling annual negotiations, Pan India transportation will be essential.Must be able to communicate well (read and write) in English and speak in Hindi. Knowing regional languages like Telugu, Tamil etc. is an added advantage.
