achelors degree BA/BS in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or related discipline or at least 4 years of industry experienceMust have end to end experience with common user research methods such as usability testing, survey research, cognitive walkthroughs, expert/heuristic reviews, focus groups, customer site visits, contextual inquiry, creating personas or user profiles, task analysis, statistical analysis of behavioral data, prototyping (paper, flash or other interactive), recruiting, phone interviews, etcStrong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phaseFamiliarity with software development process is highly desirableExcellent writing and communication skills, with a particular emphasis on the ability to communicate and justify usability design decisions and methodsAbility to work in a fast paced environmentShould have technical knowledge required to manage and maintain hardware (desktop machines, servers, camera equipment, audio equipment) and software components of the usability lab ResponsibilitiesWork with expert users and product management to refine product requirements.Work with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to prioritize research opportunities and create long term usability goals in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environmentConduct and analyze independent research according to usability plans using the appropriate methods (field studies, heuristic evaluations, user testing, focus groups, surveys, etc.)Write and present effective and compelling findings and recommendations based on researchDevelop, write, and champion usability standards, guidelines, and requirements within the product development processUnderstand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into researchTrack usability issues throughout the entire product development process and report progress toward meeting usability goals to managementTrain others in planning and conducting lightweight usability studies
