A reputable logistics company is currently recruiting for a System and Network Administrator-Associate to be based in Johannesburg-South AfricaJob Purpose StatementUnder guidance performs routine systemsnetwork administrative tasks in accordance with defined processes, procedures, corporate standards and SOX legislation. Focuses on developing relevant technical expertise, including knowledge of core processes and procedures together with knowledge of the company's business.Job Sizetypically responsible for a large location or local geographic areaprovides support for defined processestasksKey AccountabilitiesInstalls - Participates in the effective and consistent install of new serversp.cs , under guidance using software tools to build and replicate 'ideal' models. Includes loading mainstream software, adapting to take account of defined requirements of business users. Under guidance, performs timely and effective re-installs, whenever possible supporting user requirementsvalid customisation whilst maintaining company standards.Infrastructure maintenance - Under guidance, supports the correct routing of all types of business data by performing timely and essential updates to specified areas of the IT infrastructure, mainly network and telephone switches. This can involve re-setting passwords, setting up groupings within the telephony system, physically checking network cards to ensure connectivity, liaise with vendors for the resolution of issues where appropriate. Issue resolution - Reviews work requests relating to diverse types of issues and requirements from both individual users or functionally driven eg call centre, Finance. Uses agreed procedures and timelines to escalate complex issues or potentially conflicting priorities. Focuses on developing and implementing solutions to routineless complex requests (telecomms issues, for example, pc and other hardware failures or moves, software crashes, connectivity issues) or initiatesco-ordinates actions needed with relevant vendors or IT groups. Maintenance of business continuity and security - With appropriate guidance, performs routine updates to applications, operating systems and telecommunications equipment which can be critical to business continuity and security. Involves performing different manual or automated processes in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines and Infosec instructions, following through to successful installation. Standardisation - With appropriate guidance participates in the development and implementation of new or revised processes, procedures and documentation for the systems admin function, other IT teams and managementuser groups. Compliance Performs defined task to support the management of changes to critical systems. Includes definition of the change, evaluation of the impact, and performing prescribed testsvalidation prior to implementation. Performs data back-up and storage tasks that support business continuity and security. Systemstelecommunications maintenance - Maintains the performance and integrity of specified systems telecommunications by performing ongoing maintenance functions within required parameters. Includes creationupdatingdeletion of user accounts, updating of access control lists, maintenance of audit trails on behalf of business users and provision of evidence etc. Business and IT knowledge - Develops a good knowledge of relevant operating systems, hardware and software and information security requirements. Uses knowledge to provide effective support. Develops appropriate alignments with functional teams and relevant peers to improve understanding and knowledge of issues and requirements. Information - Supports IT and functional management planning and decision making by providing defined technical information. Includes research to support the selection and maintenance of equipment, provision of information to be included in business proposalsjustifications.
