The Configuration engineer position is in the Technical Landscape Services team within TaCITs Engineering and Smart Delivery Vertical. TaCIT (Technical and Competitive IT) is part of P&T (Projects and Technology).P&T is critical as the projects execution and technology engine to help Shell achieve our aspiration of becoming the world s most innovative and competitive energy company. P&T works in partnership with Shells Upstream and Downstream businesses to generate value for shareholders and commercial partners.The generation of value within the TaCIT s Engineering & SMART Delivery Vertical (ESDV) relies heavily upon experienced engineers providing engineering and domain expertise coupled with practical experience. These engineers work with the Upstream and Downstream businesses to identify opportunities and requirements, which when implemented by software developers, result in applications which help drive Shell s technical advantage. These engineers lead the specification of the functional requirements and validate the functionality provided by the resulting application meets engineering guidelines. As part of the role involves balancing engineering and IT requirements, this role is best fulfilled by individuals with an affinity for IT.This position provides a great opportunity to expand networks within the business as well as develop a network within P&T and the disciplines. It provides growth opportunities by gaining new skills and insights to solve problems not only the traditional way, but also by using the innovative tools selected and designed while in this position.The WRFM NGT (Next generation toolkit) is a web based application based on a combined Microsoft (SQL, ASP.NET, Silverlight), OSiSoft (Asset Framework, data historian), SAP BO/HANA and Oracle (mainly datasources via ETL) technology stack. The toolkit is intended to support the structured daily and monthly reviews within the WRFM (Wells, Reservoir and Facility Management) work processes.Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities Deliver prioritized product backlog in accordance to the definition of doneCommunicate configuration impediments effectively to the Scrum MasterFoster relationships with other IT teams in Shell that contribute to SMART application integration and the end-to-end service delivery model of the WRFM NGTBuild and maintain knowledge of other IT functions, s.a. Architecture, Security, Compliance Office, Technical Landscape Services, IT Services and Support as relevant for the non-functional requirements of the delivery of application software in the Shell environment.Build / Maintain relationships with Product Owner, Scrum master and business analystEnsure that the established deployment / configuration processes are adhered to and that the configuration backlog items adhere to the agreed definition of ready through requirements inspectionsEnsure the use of the prescribed testing processes, methodologies and tools within the deployment teamSupport implementation initiatives of the application in the business. RequirementsEducation University/bachelors degree in Information Technology/Engineering or MBARelevant Experience 1) Total years of experience minimum 5 years of experience deploying MI/BI/real-time data solutions to the business. Upstream/Downstream oil and gas experience an advantage2) Minimum of 3 years experience working within a SCRUM team3) Experience in delivering and supporting technical discipline engineering applications used in monitoring equipment and/or predicting maintenance/inspection intervals.4) Preference on relevant experience in technical tools (MS SQL, .NET web based technologies, Oracle, HTML5, MS VSTS, SAP HANA, OSiSoft PI System)"Job Knowledge1) Expertise in software engineering methodologies, software engineering development environments (like MS VSTS), along with experience leading software development activities. Some experience managing other developers is preferred. Has considerable proven experience in the management and operation of configuration and landscape management processes.Software Engineering Designs, codes, tests, corrects, and documents technically complex programs and program modifications using agreed standards and tools. Configures software and equipment and tests platform specific versions of one or more software products. Reports the outcome of testing and identifies potential improvements to the process and to the software products according to agreed designs and standards. Software Development Skills .NET, SQL, Web Services, MS TFS, Agile Development methodology Produces detailed designs and documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.
