A reputable logistics company is currently recruiting for a Technology Services Specialist Job PurposeParticipates in technology services aspects of assigned projects (new locations, expansions, re-locations, new equipment, strategic Corporate roll-outs etc) contributing to on-time achievement of the project goals and compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements. With guidance may lead specific aspects of projects. Project deliverables typically include power and data infrastructure, voice and data network connectivity etc.Provides effective support for critical systems, networks and equipment. Includes disaster recovery management, all types of installsupgrades maintenance.Job size Typically has an assigned territory with multiple functions and locations may include support for in-country andor a GSP countryies Projects include participating in location expansions new location openings, roll-out of new technologies etc. Contributes to projects by advising on more routine technology constraints, solutions and costs Budget responsibility for assigned parts of projectsKey AccountabilitiesIT and Business knowledge - Develops an in depth understanding of relevant technologies (network architecture, telecommunications, data transfer etc), together with a good understanding of the company's business ( key business applications, systems and processes, roles of key functions, impact of technology on service and results etc). Uses the knowledge to prioritise and provide effective business advice and solutions.Prioritisation, planning and co-ordination - Uses effective methods and tools to plan and prioritise assigned projects, maintenance activities and re-active support for technology failurescontingency situations. Includes using project management software, scheduling of maintenance that may be through vendor contracts, reprioritisation of ongoing work to address immediate business needs or changing project parameters.Contingency management - In the event of a serious business outage (customs clearance, scanning, sort, Courier communications failures etc) implements the established contingency plan. Seeks guidance when needed, in order to support the timely resolution of service by involving relevant people, and personally assisting in the diagnosis and fixing of the problem. Keeps the Manager and key departments informed on the status of progress.Performs defined preventative measures such as making and testing backup and storage of business critical data, maintaining documentation of all network and business critical systems details (eg configuration information). Contributes to the development and testing of local disaster recovery plans.Project support - Leads the less complex aspects of technology services projects to expandupgrade facilitiessystems (hub, ramp, station, GTS, Finance etc), or to open new locations, both within local and remote countries. Under guidance works on the more complex aspects.With guidance recommends initial analysis and cost estimates, designs the actual solution. May present to local management, explaining the solutionactions needed. In accordance with defined parameters, prepares appropriate financial justifications and project plans for final review and approval.Project implementation - With guidance, co-ordinates the implementation phase of each project. Typically involves recommending and managing vendorscontractors (quotation process, defining requirements, supervising work, reviewing quality etc) and actually performing part of the installation (re-cabling, establishing communication links, connecting hardware to LANS, voice to PABX's, patch panels, scanning solutions, servers, p.c.s etc).Uses an agreed process to review and control costs, and cash flows within approved parameters.Technology service assurance - Supports the business in achieving a secure, reliable and stable technology platform. Performs systems testing and remote monitoring, installing corporate virus protection and security packages, upgrades etc. Ensures all results comply with defined manufacturers' and company's standards. Creates and maintains appropriate records.Supports the business and end users (including Executive management) in the timely resolution of ongoing technical problems (printer failures, VPN set-up, install standard pc applications etc) or in re-organisation of the work areas , desk moves (p.c. and telephone), moving equipment (Courier or warehouse scanning), moving or upgrading software etc.Project deployment - Participate in technology services aspects of assigned Corporate, EMEA or local country projects (e.g. Genesis, Powerpad, SOX etc). may performs installations, surveys, create documentation etc that is in accordance with defined parameters (specifications, standards, timeframes etc). Includes providing recommendations and making approved adaptations to plans to meet local requirements.Information and advice - Provides analysis and updates for IT functions and local Management. Includes preparing accurate and relevant information recommendations relating to less complex technical projectsissuesrequirements. (e.g. modifications to sort equipment or new IT hardware that improves productivity etc). Under guidance works on the analysis of more complex requirementsissues.Provides effective written and verbal instructions or explanations relating to the usemaintenance of technology. Includes one-on-one and group briefings for users and presentations to Management.Network integration - In accordance with country specific requirements, performs defined aspects of network integration in relation to LAN, WAN and GSP infrastructure (router and firewall installation and configuration etc).

Requirements

3-4 years industry experienceProvides technical advice and solutions regarding complex application and application architecture design initiativesissues. Includes leadingparticipating in the IT aspects of EMEA projects and participation in assigned global projects. Ensures all actions comply with IT corporate standards which incorporates SOX requirements.Good presentation skills with experience of presenting and explaining complex solutions Good understanding of a complex business eg structure, strategies, processes, goals etc and of the business environment e.g. industry, competitor, general ITGood understanding of processes and systems across multiple business functions andor local production application systemsGood knowledge of current and emerging methodologies, technologies and standards related to applications and application architecture with experience of defining robust architecture solutions eg road maps for application, technical, data and business architecture, networks, HA ,DR and back-up and recoveryIn depth understanding of architecture quality assurance with experience of incorporating the different elements into robust solutionsGood knowledge of the project management process with experience of performing the technical lead role for localregional projectsExcellent analytical and problem solving skills with experience of developing effective solutions for complex IT architecture
