The ResponsibilitiesThis role will be part of the Securities Operations team responsible for processing Asset Services Corporate Actions.This role provides coverage for clients and supports various RBS PLC and NV entitiesRole functions include Asset Services Corporate Actions processing both Mandatory & Voluntary.This Role ensuresAdherence to global standards and procedures booking, controls and reconciliations, Record date & pay date activities, by interacting continuously with the global product headsAdhere to local standards and procedures, by liaising closely with compliance, operations risk and following local regulatory constraints, especially in the branchesReview periodically (daily/weekly/monthly) exception reports thus ensuring that problems are identified and escalated as quickly as possibleLiaising closely with the global team, Front Office & middle office to mitigate risk and improve client & business relationships.Be conversant in Asset Services market/regulatory developments and targets to deliver appropriate RBS support modelDeliver end to end solutions to process inefficiencies by working with the relevant MO teams as well as upstream & downstream teamsEnsure global standardisation of Asset Services workflow and efficiency through close engagement with London and other location officesLead the team in the location to ensure that the team is motivated and fully productive.Control focussed The individual will need to look at the root cause of breaks/ issues and drive through new initiatives to prevent reoccurrence. Ensure that all appropriate procedures are developed, documented and consistently communicated and applied.Minimise risk by investigating and reporting the break/event within the threshold time limit to the correct responsibility and chasing aged breaks on timeEnsure that Service Level Agreement (SLA) obligations, KPI/KRIs are met.To propose measures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation.Making recommendations for improvement in processes.Take a proactive view toward system change looking to highlight issues and suggest ways to solve existing problems. Look to adopt industry best practises and encourage others to do the same.Support cross training to reduce any key dependences and enhance product and process knowledge, in and outside of the team.Conduct staff appraisals and ensure training needs are met.Supporting the Head of Securities Ops M&IB Operations, India in setting and implementing objectives for the department.Work closely with Head of Securities Ops, M&IB Operations, India to ensure that capacity planning and demands are known and understood.Ensure regular communication and engagement with other managers within both India and London Management.Evaluate significant Operations or IT related issues that impact service and escalate where necessary to other operational areas and London Operations Management.Support new business and aid in delivering initiatives, participating where required, particularly where client service is involved.Ensure prompt response to communications, with a view of time zone impact, showing high level of skill including telephone etiquette..Work with team members and other teams to achieve shared business goals.Have a track record of successfully managing relationships, both inter-departmentally and to external business partners.Have experience of the mechanics of all relevant derivative and hedging products.Understand and follow the escalation matrix and levels both internally and externallyAid in maintaining overall outstanding population in line with internal guidelinesExecute investigative and supporting functions to new business initiatives.Have excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Must also be involved in multiple projects and be aware of various stages in the lifecycle of a project.Have strong analytical background, well versed with Microsoft applications.Operate in an environment with the utmost professionalism.Good level of understanding with regards to Risk & ControlEnsure zero error rates through accuracy and controls adherenceReview manual or ineffective processes which could be automated, or enhanced, to enable the provision of superior client supportStrategic Planning Define and implement the Securities Ops strategic plans, across multiple dimensions customer offering, revenue, costs, balance sheet, capital and liquidity. Collaborate and partner with executive colleagues across the businesses and the Group to deliver long term value creation. Ensure strategies take account of economic, market and regulatory changesBusiness Model Ensure the management teams across Securities functions and regions are set up with unambiguous accountability for front to back ownership of the businessGovernance Create and maintain an effective and efficient governance structure across Fixed Income & Equities, based on the principles of Good Corporate GovernanceCulture Define, drive and shape the culture of the business to embed strategic goals throughout all levels client focus, high performance business, strong control, engaged and empowered workforce, etc.Financial Delivery Ensure Securities Ops delivers acceptable financial performance within acceptable risk parameters, maximizing RoE by delivering revenue, and managing cost, capital and risksBalance Sheet Ensure Securities Ops Asset Services manages the divisions Balance Sheet and related risks including managing balance sheet structure, currency, tenor, capital, liquidity and funding requirements. Ensure division has a funding and capital plan agreed with Group TreasuryEfficiency and Cost Management Drive disciplined cost management and a culture of cost consciousness and operational excellence across the departmentFinancial Management and Budgeting Ensure Securities Ops implements financial management disciplines which allow the timely and prospective management of the businessClient Focus Set the tone from the top by promoting client focus throughout strategy, communications and client engagement. Ensure client focus in built into Fixed Income & Equities cultureCustomer Delivery Ensure Ops senior leadership teams are accountable for their delivery of commitments to RBS customersReputation Build, safeguard and uphold the reputation of RBS Group across all stakeholders investors, press, politicians, public, staff, clients, etc.Regulatory Relations Act as interface for the Group as required with regulators, industry associations, policy makers, etc. Ensure relationships are open, transparent and in good faithSupervisory Culture Supervise direct reports and their activities effectively, including effective record keeping and documentation of key people issues.
