Role ResponsibilityOversight for Operational RiskProvide an oversight for Corporate Actions responsibilities, which includes;Management responsibility supporting multiple products, volume, various business activities and projects coordinated both functionally and regionally.On a daily basis ensure that all corporate action events across all markets and asset types (equities, fixed income and derivatives) are correctly processed, reviewed and reconciled as necessary in accordance with procedures.Ensure strict governance of procedures and controls including risk oversight and regular training.Investigate reconciliation discrepancies on a daily basis ensuring all discrepancies are resolved and cleared at the earliest opportunity.Work with global Corporate Action managers to identify best practice in BlackRock's processes and drive consistency of process across locations.Ensure the appropriate restriction status of entitlements is maintained in BlackRock applications through interaction with custodians.Escalate all material risk items and service issues to senior management on a timely basis.Build and maintain constructive relationships with key contacts at providers.Work closely with business partners including other Investment Operations teams to ensure an efficient and effective work flow and a One BlackRock approach to problem solving.Manage any queries received from various internal and external parties.Maintain awareness of industry developments and how they impact BlackRock.Business StrategyPartner with regional / functional management to drive key business strategy across Investment Operations.Actively contribute feedback, advice, innovations and best practices that improve the performance of the function.Continue to review processes and control in the region, and evolve them to be consistent with global standard and institute effective monitoring and controls to maintain an effective risk management platform.Identify synergies and efficiency savings through analysis of processes or by leveraging technology innovation.Collaborate with key constituents, internally and externally, to ensure a globally consistent and tightly controlled environment.Experience10 15 years of relevant experience across Corporate Actions and Investment Operations functions.BS/BA in business, finance or related fieldAdvanced level of operational processes, with specific understanding of risk and operating controlsPrevious experience of working in a global organization preferredUnderstanding of financial markets and related instrumentsExperience managing people; has empathy and willing to engage people on career discussionsTakes time to coach, mentor and develop others, recognizing accomplishments and successes.Strong communication skills - both oral and written; ability to communicate effectively with senior management, clients and external ProvidersSignificant experience effecting and managing change across a large organization Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an aptitude for learning new applicationsProven strong ability to drive/execute strategiesSuccessful leadership skills and experience managing global teams, including integrating and executing processes and controls across multiple locations.Team player with attention to details, problem solving abilities, and analytical skillsThe ability to perform effectively in an environment of rapid and continual change
